THE ANNUAL ARAB CHILD SUMMIT

Alissar Nasr

Academia Management Solutions International (AMSI)

Chief Academic Officer

Graduated from Harvard University with a Master of Education in Administrative Planning and Social Policy, Ms. Alissar Nasr has more than 30 years of experience in academic planning, curriculum development, and school operations. She began her career in education as a teacher of Mathematics in 1988 in Al Mawakeb School in Dubai and moved on to assume a number of roles at a strategic and operational level in school administration and management, where she worked on a wide range of educational projects, including curriculum development and digitization, leadership development, pedagogical and creative learning methods, student assessment programs, student reward and incentive systems, academic publishing, coaching and mentoring, and professional development. She was also responsible for leading school-wide accreditation projects that have helped schools earn certifications from international accreditation bodies. In addition to these core activities, Ms. Nasr has been involved in the development of Student Life Programs and various extra-curricular plans that support and enhance the collective student learning experience. In 2016, Mrs. Nasr founded and now chairs the Steering Committee that drives AMSI Voices. Through this CSR group, the extensive pool of alumni who are willing to positively impact rising generations come together to encourage, guide, and support the students at AMSI schools, inspiring them and making a difference in their lives. AMSI Voices have quickly evolved as a networking platform for empowering students, and Mrs. Nasr, along with a steering committee of ambitious and driven alumni, has successfully held six conferences under two titles “Girls are Makers of Change” and “Making my Decisions, Owning my Outcomes” and various regular workshops as part of the AMSI Voices “Monday 101s” series for 11th and 12th graders at AMSI schools. As Chief Academic Officer at AMSI, she is responsible for coordinating all aspects of curriculum development, delivery, and assessment, as well as student support programs and services for all AMSI-managed schools. In collaboration with a dedicated academic team, she leads the ongoing process of reviewing, updating, and developing the schools’ academic and support programs to ensure that they remain comprehensive, dynamic, and improved. She is also involved in various consultancy projects that help existing schools in assessing, restructuring, and enhancing their academic systems and programs. In March 2020, Ms. Nasr worked extensively with AMSI’s ICT Department and the academic teams in AMSI schools to launch a Distance Learning Program (DLP) in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. She worked on identifying the criteria for successful, efficient, and accessible methods to deliver an online educational program that recreates and extends the learning experience for students, through a balance of synchronous and asynchronous learning, and that encompasses the whole school community in terms of ease of access and use. Her efforts culminated in what is now referred to as “Al Mawakeb Distance Learning”. What remained non-negotiable in her work to construct the DLP is the wellbeing of students and staff at her schools. On October 15, 2020, Ms. Alissar Nasr received the UAE 2020 Arab Woman Award for Education. She has been a keynote speaker and a panelist at many academic and prominent conferences in the UAE. Ms. Nasr earned her bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, with a double major in Mathematics and Political Science.
